What is amenorrhea?

The absence of menses

What are the reproductive ages?
A
16-40 years

What is primary amenorrhea?
A
It is amenorrhea where there has been failure to start menstruation by 16 years

What is secondary amenorrhea?
A
This is if the patient has a stopped period after she’s had her menstrual period previously
This can also be if she’s had no period after 6 months of having started her period

What is oligomenorrhoea?
A
Infrequent periods where they occur >6 weeks but there is at least one bleed per 6 months

A
Inappropriate lactation

- Pregnancy
- Lactation
- Peri-monarchal amenorrhea(before first period)
- Per-menopausal amenorrhea
