Q

Solar

A

Advantages- No emissions, currently serving 73% homes in some areas of UK

Q

Biomass

A

Advantages- Cars running on biofuel emit 80% less CO2 than petrol cars

Disadvantages- Causes deforestation e.g. in Brazil, combats reducing emissions and reinforces rural inequalities (TNCs inflate land price and take away farmland)

Q

Nuclear

A

Advantages- No emissions

Disadvantage- More expensive than most renewables, still requires large amounts of initial energy for turbine, can be unsafe e.g. Fukishima disaster

USA responsible for 30% global nuclear energy
