  • deficits in swallowing
  • Congenital – cleft palate, poor maxilla/mandibular alignment, wry nose, cranial displacement of parotid duct, laryngeal malformation
  • Function – tetanus, botulism (should be vaccinated with clostridium vaccine)
  • Irritation to oral cavity – ulcerative stomatitis, glossitis, malocclusion, FB, choke, megaoesophagus
  • Generalised weakness
  • Toxicity ingestion – fungus’s in forage

Ptyalism - the production of too much saliva,
Pseudoptyalism - the apperance of the productino of too much saliva but there is not acctually any more being produced
Cud Spilling - spilling of cud out of the mouth

  • Severe dermatitis – heavy, adherent, hyperkeratotic crusts – paranasal/perioral regions (wetter in appearance than ectoparasites)
  • Treat secondary bacterial infection +/- mange
  • DD - viral contagious pustular dermatitis, dermatophilosis, dermatophytosis, bacterial dermatitis, and immune-mediated disease

ectoparasites - sarcoptes, psoroptes, chorioptes, demodex - Ivermectin repeated q14 days IM/SC – not oral
