Allergy and hypersensitivity Flashcards
4 classifications of hypersensitivity
1- atopic allergy (IgE mediated) immediate
2-complement mediated medium
3-serum sickness (immune complexes) medium
4-delayed type DTH slow responde
Atopic allergy
IgE produces B cells early in life that are challenged by allergies and develops inappropriate IgE producing B cells
Type 2
Normal phagocytosis
When phagocytes meet rbc that has RH antigen it adheres to surface of rbc and initiates complement cascade and digests walls of rbc killing it
Rhesus baby
Mother develops antibodies to RhD antigen.
To cure is injected with anti Rh antibodies to destroy fetal rbc so mother cant stimulate immune response
Treatment or allergy by desensitisation
Make high affini6 IgG to compete with IgE
Monoclonal antibodies
Designed to target specific antigens. Produced by cloning B cell and replicating.
