Primary - failed to develop immune tolerance

Infant - milk, egg, peanut
Older children - peanut, fish, shellfish

Secondary - initially tolerated then allergic

Signs and symptoms of food allergy?

A

IgE mediated allergy - urticaria, facial swelling, rash, erhythema, nausea

Non-IgE mediated - erythema, atopic eczema, GORD change in bowel habits.

Common 3-6%
can be immediate or delayed
infants that are breastfed can still get it

IgE mediated allergy - same as food allergy
