pulmonary hypersensitivity caused by allergy to fungal antigens that colonize tracheobronchial tree

Usually occurs in what pt population?
A
asthamatic pts 20-40 yrs of age in response to aspergillus

Dianostic criteria
A
- Clinical history of asthma
- peripheral esoinophilia
- immediate skin reactivity to aspergillus antigen
- precipitating antibodies to aspergillus antigen
- elevated serum IgE
- Pulm infiltrates
- cnetral bronchiectasis
If first six of the above are met diagnosis is confirmed.
Sputum culture can also be done to identify aspergillu. hisory of brown-clecked sputum and late skin reactivity to aspergillus antigen

Treatment
A
High dose prednisone for at least 2 months
