Laser printer process
1) Processing
2) Charging
3) Exposing (writing)
4) Developing
5) Transfering
6) Fusing
7) Cleaning
Laser printer processing Step 1
Processing
Image is sent and stored to the printers memory
Laser printer processing Step 2
Charging
Charges the photosensitive drum which is responsible for how the image is printed
Laser printer processing Step 3
Exposing
Laser prints the image onto the drum
Laser printer processing Step 4
Developing
Toner sticks to where the laser has been written to on the drum
Laser printer processing Step 5
Transfering
Toner on drum gets transferred onto the paper
Laser printer processing Step 6
Fusing
Toner is fused onto the paper with heat and pressure
Laser printer processing Step 7
Cleaning
Printing drum gets cleaned of leftover toner
Ink jet printer
Liquid ink is propelled out of a nozzle in a carriage assembly that moves back and forth across a page
Laser jet printer heads
Thermal
Piezoelectric
Bubble jet
Ink jet printer colour
CMYK
Cyan, magenta, yellow, black
Thermal Printer
Uses heat to print on heat sensitive paper.
3D printing process
- Uses a 3D software to create or scan a 3D object.
- 3D object is sliced horizontal into layers
- printer melts filament that is extruded onto the print layer by layer
3D Printer Maintenance
Remove - remove filament from nozzle
Clean - clean any residue plastic
Apply - apply grease to moving parts
Check - check tubes in feeder mechanism
Examine - examine couplers
Ensure - ensure approve 3D filament
Check - software update
SLA & SLS 3D printer
SLA
- Stereolithography
- uses lasers to cure liquid resine
SLS
- Selective Laser Seintering
- uses lasers to cure powder
