All cells arise from other cells Flashcards
Growth 1
Growth before DNA replication
GO
temporary cellular quiescence or terminal differentiation
S
replication of DNA and RNA
G2
further growth and organelle replication
checkpoint
comes after G2, possible apoptosis
mitosis 1)
prophase:
- chromosones condense into chromatid rods
- chromatid arms lose cohesion
- nuclear envelope disintegrates
- centrioles seperate to opposite poles and nucleate spindle fibres
mitosis 2)
metaphase:
- sister chromatids form a metaphase plate
- microtubules maintain a symmetrical bipolar spindle
-spindle checkpoint
mitosis 3)
anaphase:
- centromere splits and cohesion is lost
- spindle fibres retract and chromosones are pulled to opposite poles
- cleavage plane determined
mitosis 4)
telephase:
- chromosones decondense at opposite poles
- nuclear envelope starts to reform
cytokinesis
- cell constricts into two identical daughter cells through the formation of an acto-myosin ring
