Influences=Can influence children
Form=Single=parent, two unmarried partners, opposite sexes, sames sexes, adoptive, foster, etc.
Function=Social/structural properties of the global family environment including interactions and relationships within the family, levels of conflict/cohesion, adaptability, organization, quality of communication
Aggression/Bullying
Lower executive function and academic performance
Correlated with aggressive behavior, perceived social support, mental health, including anxiety, depression, and subjective well being
Disabilities/Intervention
May have poor health/education outcomes. May have low self-esteem and limited interaction with others. May be at higher risk for violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation
Intervention can help children and young people to develop the skills they need to live happy, healthy, and successful lives
Moral Development (stages/levels)
Oedipus Complex=Unconscious desire of young boys to replace their fathers and win their mothers’ exclusive love
Electra Complex=Girls may want to eliminate same-sex parent and become intimate with the opposite-sex parent
Superego=Judgmental part of the personality that internalizes the moral standards of the parents
