Contraindications?
A
- Hypersensitivity

Administration?
A
- Adult: [2.5-5.0 mg] up to 10 mg in 3 ml sterile saline as inhalation
- Pediatrics: [1.25-2.5 mg] up to 5 mg in 3 ml sterile saline as inhalation; over 5-15 minutes
- Or patients own bronchodilator using pre-measured or metered inhalation device

Drug Interaction?
A
- Beta adrenergic agents; increases effects
- MAO inhibitors; may lead to hypertensive crisis
- Beta adrenergic blockers; may decrease effects

Special Notes?
A
- Most side effects are dosage related
- Take care if patient is already using inhaler due to possible development of severe paradoxical airway resistance with excessive use
- May decrease aterial oxygen tension acutely by causing bronchodilation in areas of lung with poor blood perfusion
