Define Ventilation
Movement of air in and out of the lungs during inhalation and exhalation.
Define Oxygenation
The process by which oxygen molecules bind to hemoglobin in the blood.
Define Respiration
The process by which the lungs exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen in the alveoli and provide oxygenated blood to body tissues.
Define Tidal Volume
Normal volume of gas inhaled during one respiration cycle.
Adult: 500ml
Children: 6ml - 8ml
Neonate: 5ml - 7ml per/kg
Define Dead Space
Volume of inhaled gas that does not take part in the gas exchange
Define Perfusion
The transport of blood, which carries oxygen, glucose, and other nutrients as well as waste products throughout the body
