Airspace Flashcards
To fly in class B airspace, what must you have?
2 way radio communication equipment
An operable radar beacon transponder with altitude reporting equipment (mode c)
An ATC clearance
Generally a private pilots license, with some exceptions
How is class b airspace depicted on charts?
Solid blue lines
Includes a mode c veil, extending 30 nautical miles from the center of the primary airport (from surface upward of 10,000 msl)
What is required for class A airspace?
Instrument rated pilots in a instrument equipped aircraft
Operating on an IFR flight plan
A mode C transponder
Vertically, what are the limits of class A airspace
18,000 MSL to 60,000 pressure altitude
What airspace is not depicted in aeronautical charts
Class G
Class A
What airspace is used to protect Federal airways?
Class E
Explain Federal Airways
Extend 4 nautical miles or 4.5 degrees, whichever is greater from the centerline on each side
Begin vertically at 1200 ft AGL
Extend upward to the base of the overlying controlled airspace
Class E airspace with a fuzzy magenta begins at what?
Class E in a fuzzy magenta begins at 700ft AGL. Inside that it is class G up to but not including 700ft AGL
Where does class E airspace begins with a dashed magenta line
Class E airspace begins at the surface
Where does class E begin with fuzzy side of blue
1200ft AGL
If not charted, where does class E airspace begin?
14500 MSL
What do basic radar services include?
Safety alerts, traffic advisories, limited radar vectoring to VFR aircraft
There is no separation service provided for VFR aircraft, only provided between IFR aircraft
