What needs to be done to prepare an aircraft for an annual or 100 hour inspection?
Open all necessary inspection plates, access doors and covers, the wheel fairings and engine cowling. Then clean aircraft and engine thoroughly.
What is the difference between an annual and a 100 hours inspection?
No difference. They are identical in scope. Only difference is time between inspections and required authorization to return to service.
Who has the authority to sign off and return to service a 100 hours inspection?
Certified A&P.
What are the operating conditions which make the 100 hour inspection mandatory?
Required for aircraft that carry persons for hire, or is used for hire in flight.
Where can yo u find a checklist for the 100 hours inspection?
FAR Part 43, Appendix D.
Where would you find the recommend statement for recording the approval or disapproval for return to service of an aircraft after a 100 hour inspection?
FAR Part 43.11.
Who can approve an aircraft for return to service after an annual inspection?
Certificated A&P holding a Inspection Authorization (IA).
Who can approve an aircraft for return to service after a progressive inspection has been performed?
Certificated A&P holding a Inspection Authorization (IA), the aircraft manufacturer, or certified repair station.
Does an aircraft being operated under a progressive inspection program require a 100 hour inspection if used to give flight instruction for hire?
No.
What is the maximum time that a 100 hour inspection may be extended?
10 hours, and the hours may only be used to ferry the aircraft to an inspection facility.
