On The Ground

A
  • Six short rings or verbal warning from JM
  • Respond to commands from JM
  • Keep seatbelts fastened until A/C stops
  • Exit the A/C and proceed 100m in a safe direction
  • Assemble at a safe location for accountability

BELOW 1000’ AGL

A
  • Six short rings or verbal warning from JM
  • Respond to all commands from JM
  • Ensure seatbelts are fastened
  • One continuous bell or verbal warning by JM, Assume emergency landing position
  • Keep seatbelts fastened until A/C stops
  • Exit and move 100m in a safe direction or as indicated by the JM, get accountability

  • JM gives emergency bailout signal, Time permitting, other jump commands may be given
  • Clenched fist over reserve ripcord and thrust out to the side means “clear and pull reserve ripcord”
  • Exit at the JM command
  • Immediately deploy the reserve parachute once cleared of the aircraft
  • Attempt to land with other jumpers

Above 3000’ AGL

A
  • JM gives emergency bailout signal
  • Time permitting, other jump commands may be given
  • Right hand pointing to main pilot chute handle, “clear and pull main pilot chute handle”
  • Exit at the JM command
  • Deploy the main parachute within 5 seconds of clearing the aircraft
  • Attempt to land with other jumpers

Premature Activation Of A Main Pilot Chute

A

• Whoever notices shouts “pilot chute”!!!
• Collapse and/or contain the pilot chute
• JM/instructor will move that jumper to front of aircraft
• If only main pilot chute is deployed but the pin is still intact it will be repacked by an instructor and receive JMPI by second instructor (MFFPC Only)
• If the main curved pin is deployed, an instructor will disconnect the RSL, cutaway the main parachute, the student will be seated with seat belt fastened and air land with an instructor
*Note: In the event of an aircraft emergency, the jumper can exit using the reserve parachute

Premature Activation Of A Reserve Pilot Chute

A

• Whoever notices shouts “pilot chute”
• Contain the pilot chute
• Move forward in the a/c and remove your harness container
• Place harness in a kit bag, sit down, and fasten seatbelt
• Jumper will land with the a/c
• Anytime a part of the parachute system gets out of the aircraft…Immediately follow it out!!!
Note: any jumpers closer to the ramp or door should exit or get out of the way to clear a path

Altimeter Failure

A

• If there is an altimeter failure onboard the aircraft notify an instructor, exchange it for the on board spare
• If the altimeter is not available the jumper will be moved to the front of the aircraft, seated, and fasten seatbelts
*Note: The jumper can exit the a/c in an emergency situation

Equipment Malfunction

A
  • Equipment = altimeter hand out with the thumb down.

* Oxygen equipment or felling any altitude sickness = altimeter hand out flat with palm side down
