Aircraft Performance Flashcards
What is True Altitude?
The height above sea level
What is Absolute Altitude?
Height above ground level
What is Indicated Altitude?
When proper altitude is dialed into the Kollsman window.
What is Pressure Altitude?
Altitude when standard pressure (29.92) is dialed into the Kollsman window
What is Density Altitude?
Pressure altitude corrected for non-standard temperatures.
What is Indicated Airspeed?
The aircraft’s speed read from the airspeed indicator.
What is calibrated Airspeed?
Indicated Airspeed corrected for instrument and position error.
What is True Airspeed?
The speed of the aircraft relative to the air through which it is flying.
What is ground speed?
The speed of the aircraft as it tracks over the ground.
If true airspeed is high, ground speed is?
Low.
If true airspeed is low, ground speed is?
High.
