Air Management Flashcards
List the items that use bleed air
Environmental control system (ECS) Engine start Engine, wing, & horizontal stab anti-icing system Cargo heating system Main cabin door pressurization seal
When is the cabin temp control xferred to the VIP seat panel?
When the detect C is selected to the PAX CABIN TEMP control knob
In the event of a bleed leak detection, what light will illuminate in addition to an associated CAS message?
The PACK, BLEED 1, BLEED 2, or CABIN APU amber light
When is the Outflow Valve (OFV) indication on the Environmental Control System (ECS) synoptic page displayed?
Only available on the ground
What are the potential sources of bleed air that the Pneumatic System Controller (PSC) can automatically select from?
Engines, APU, external cart
Is it possible to have bleed from the APU and engines simultaneously?
No
During normal operation on the ground and for taxiing, what is the primary source of bleed air?
The APU
What is the primary source of bleed air in flight?
Engines
When will the bleed air source be automatically transitioned to the engines?
When plane starts running for takeoff (engines TLA’s higher than 50*)
The xbleed shutoff valve is automatically commanded to close for what conditions?
Bleed leakage, over pressure, engine fire, or if a failure condition is identified
Can an external ground connection be used to supply pressurized air for an engine start?
Yes
If a huffer cart is being used and is NOT adjustable, what range should the pressure be in?
Between 32 - 60psi
When is fast cooling/warming enabled on hot/cold days?
When the difference between the cockpit/cabin temp set point and cockpit/cabin zone temp is 6*C or higher
What happens to the recirculation fan during fast cooling/warming ops?
Automatically sets higher speed to optimize system performance
If the air conditioning pack fails what does the PSC automatically do?
Engages the pack backup operational mode and controls cabin and cockpit temp.
What is ram air ventilation used for?
Non-pressurized flight or for smoke evacuation
When will the PSC command the emergency RAM air door open?
In case of loss of the air conditioner PACK and the PACK backup systems
How can the emergency RAM air door be manually commanded open?
Through the DUMP button on the pressurization control panel OR loss of both PACKs
How is the Cargo Heating System operated?
Automatically by the PSC
When is the main cabin door pressurized seal inflated?
After takeoff
How can the outflow valve be modulated?
Either automatically or manually
What position are the Negative and Positive Pressure Relief Valves (NPRV & PPRV) normally in?
Closed
What is the cabin altitude rate of change when moving the Cabin Alt knob up or down?
50 ft/min steps
What does pushing the MODE selector button on the pressurization panel allow for?
Manual control of the press system through the CABIN ALT knob
What happens when the dump button is pressed in the auto mode of operations?
Cabin is depressurized at a constant rate of 2,000 ft/min up to 12,000ft and emergency Ram air door is opened.
What happens if you press the dump button while in manual mode?
Cabin rate of change will increase with the duration of of the dump command until either command is removed or altitude limit function disables it when cabin reaches 14,800 +/- 200ft. Emergency RAM door is also opened.
Max differential over pressure
10.4psid
Max differential negative pressure
0.5 psid
Max differential pressure for TO & landing?
.2 psid
