Air Departures Flashcards
When can you issue a conditional clearance?
When there is only one landing or departing aircraft affecting the crossing or entering traffic.
All traffic is visible from the VCR.
What are the restrictions with an A-SMGCS conditional line up clearance?
Normal Vis and VIS 2 only:
- ) RVR >600m and entry points up until A4, NB3, NB8 and A13.
- ) A-SMGCS configured appropriately
- ) Departure v Departure only
- ) Line up clearances only
- ) No multiple line ups
If the MDS fails (primary only) then this procedure cannot be used.
Minimum noise routings apply to all aircraft except?
Propeller driven aircraft whose MTWA does not exceed 5,700kg
Between 0600-2330hrs local, propeller driven aircraft who’s MTWA does not exceed 17,00kg
When can you deviate from an MNR?
- ) Aircraft in an emergency or on safety grounds
- ) Police, Emergency helicopter flights or other flights CAT E and above
- ) When a nav aid associated with an MNR is U/S
- ) To provide separation for any calibration flight
- ) On easterlies to provide separation from H9 traffic either overflying or landing at Heathrow
- ) Weather avoiding
What do you do if an aircraft cannot make the minimum climb out gradient
Co-ordinate with TC SVFR and the relevant TC outbound sector
When has a vehicle or aircraft fully vacated the runway?
An aircraft or vehicle is considered runway vacated when every part of it is at least 77.5m from the runway centre line
What anticipation can you use when issuing a take off or landing clearance v another lander?
When the lander has cleared the runway white lines (25m from the centre line) and is in motion and can be expected to be at least 77.5m from the centre line by the time the departure starts to roll or lander reaches the threshold
What are the restrictions when departing behind an A340?
If 2 minutes or more is specified, the full time separation must be applied. Separation must be assured before transferring to TC and any levels or headings given must be co-ordinated with TC
What is the separation between a DET followed by a MAY, or MAY v MAY on Westerlies?
3 minutes
What is the separation between DET v DET on Westerlies?
3 minutes - at 2100 local the VCR Supervisor should contact the GS A to cancel the 3 minute MDI. Then they are to update the log, inform HOEC, update CDM HMI and create an INFO FDE
What is the separation between DET v DET on Easterlies?
Between 0700-0800 local - 3 minutes
All other times 2 minutes
What is the separation between a MAY followed by a MID or GASGU on Easterlies?
3 minutes
What is the separation between a GASGU followed by a MID or CPT standard heading on Easterlies?
3 minutes
What would you do if a departure suffers a transponder failure?
Contact the outbound TC sector and if they are not available instruct the aircraft:
‘(Callsign) report that you have a transponder failure to London Control on (frequency)’
On Easterlies following a runway alternation from 09R to 09L, what new clearance would you give an aircraft on a CPT departure?
Only inform the pilot of the revised runway for departure, clearance remains the same
