aims and hypotheses and how to formulate Flashcards
research aim
identifies the purpose of the investigation.
research question
focused, concise and significant question that is arguable and relates to the theme of your research.
null hypotheses
A null hypothesis is a hypothesis that says there is no statistical significance between the two variables.
alternative hypotheses
An alternative hypothesis is one that states there is a statistically significant relationship between two variables.
one-tailed (directional) hypothesis
also known as a directional hypothesis, predicts the actual DIRECTION in which the findings will go.
two-tailed (non-directional) hypothesis
also known as a non-directional hypothesis, predicts an OPEN outcome thus the results can go in 2 directions. e.g. we predict a difference, an effect or a change but we do not know in what direction
