What is the Base Bid?
Sum stated in the bid to perform the work - to which work may be added or deleted.
Alternate
Amount stated in the bid to be added to or subtracted from the base bid.
Unit Price
price described by a unit of measurement
Sub-bidder
subcontractor bid to bidder
How long does the architect have to respond to a Bid RFI?
7 days
When must proposed alternates be submitted to the architect for approval?
10 days before the bid date.
Bid Security
A deposit of good faith from contractor to owner saying that if they are awarded the contract, they will proceed with performance. If they decline when awarded contract, the bid security if forfeited to the owner. Bid securities can be a percentage of the bid price
The owner can retain bid security until what happens? (3)
- Contract has been executed
- Specified time has elapsed
- All bids have been rejected.
