How long can the brain go without blood before brain damage begins?
4-6 Minutes.
At what time should you start to become concerned about brain damage becoming irreversible?
Once the brain has gone without blood for 6-10 minutes.
List the 5 steps for best chance of patients survival.
- Recognition and activation of emergency response systems.
- Immediate high-quality CPR.
- Rapid defibrillation.
- Basic and advanced emergency medical services.
- Advanced life support and post arrest care.
List the 4 Cs
-Check responsiveness
-Check for bleeding
-Call 911
-Start CPR
List the 3 drugs you give to those experiences chest pain.
- Nitroglycerine
- Aspirin
- Oxygen
Name the dose amount and amount of pills for Nitroglycerine.
0.4 mg dosage.
No more than 3 pills given.
Name the dose amount and amount of pills for Aspirin.
81 mg dosage.
Up to 4 pills (324 mg)
How many chest compressions does every patient get?
100-120 compressions per minute.
How often should compressors alternate?
Every 2 minutes or every 200-240 Chest compressions.
How long should you check a patient for breathing signs?
No longer than 10 seconds at a time.
How deep should you compress an infant’s chest?
1 1/2 inches or 1/3 of the depth of the chest.
How deep should you compress a child’s chest?
About 2 inches or 1/3 the depth of the chest.
How deep should you compress an adult’s chest?
At least 2 inches no more than 2 1/2 inches.

Pediatric (Children):
-1 rescuer 30:2
-2 rescuers 15:2
Infant

List the steps of abdominal thrust. (Used on children and adults)
1.You find their hip bones and hold them from behind in case they pass out.
2.You then find their belly button and make a fist so the thumb is towards you.
3.Wrap your other arm around the patient and thrust in and up.
