- increasing demand for health care
- bigger need for trained health workforce
- pervasive ageism (denying older people the rights and opportunities available for other adults)

What are the causes if an ageing population?
A
- improvements in sanitation, housing, nutrition and medical interventions
- life expectancy is rising globally
- falls in fertility (higher age of first pregnancy)
- decline in premature mortality
- more people reaching older age while fewer children are born
(less people born but less dying therefore peeps just generally getting older with fewer youngsters to balance it out)
