Trade routes to trade with India for silks and spices.
To convert people of newly discovered land to Christianity.
What did Marco Polo do and when?
During the 14th century Marco Polo traveled to China, he wrote of it’s wealth and his book inspired people to travel there to see for themselves.
Where were the slaves from that worked in America?
Africa.
What did the slaves gather?
Sugar, Tobacco, Coffee and Cotton.
Where were the resources gathered in America sold?
Europe.
What were the names of Columbus’ sponsors and where were they from?
King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain.
What was the name of the man who discovered America and where was he from?
Christopher Columbus, he was born in Italy.
What was the names of the ships Columbus sailed?
The Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria.
When did Columbus leave Spain?
August 3rd 1492.
When did Columbus arive in America?
October 12th 1942.

What Century(s) did The Age of Exploration Occur?
15th and 16th centuries.
What consequenses did the discovery of America have on the native people?
The Spannish brought diseases that they did not have any tolerance to such as smallpox, this killed 90% of the natives.
They practiced a religion with many gods and human sacrifice, they were converted to Christianity.
The native languages died and were replaced by Spanish and Portuguese.
What consequenses did the discovery of America have on Europe?
Other European contries saw Spains success and tried to set up their own empires, a conflict for the new land occured almost leading to Spain and Portugal going to war. Spain became very wealthy due to the gold and silver for America, they became even more powerful than Italy.
