Joseph Stalin believed Brittian and the USA delayed the D Day landings to harm the Soviets by fighting Nazis alone.

How did The Cuban Missile Crisis start?
Fidel Castro led a communist revolution to overthrow Cuba.
They took over US owned buisnesses.
The US cut off trade with Cuba.
How did the US push back on Castro and how did it end?
JF Kennedy authourised the CIA to plan an invasion.
Castro’s forces easily defeated them.
What was trade like between Castro, Cuba, US and the Soviet Union?
The US cut off trade with Cuba.
The Soviet Union bought Cuban sugar.
The Soviet Union sold guns to Castro.
What was the Soviet leader worried about?
The US missiles in Turkey
What did the Soviet leader do?
He suggested building a missile base in Cuba that could reach the US.
How was the missile base found?
By a US spy plane.
What was the US’ reaction to the missile base?
JF Kennedy went on live TV to threaten a naval blockade.
What is a naval blockade?
Alot of ships blocking anyone from passing in or out of a country through water. (Like in ATLA)
What did both sides agree to/ what were the consequenses?
End the crisis by dismantaling the missiles in both Turkey and Cuba.
To set up a telephone hotline between Moscow and Washington.
A Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
The US didn’t invade Cuba.
