Monoamine oxidase destroys monoamines in PoSN such as serotonin dopamine and noradrenaline

TB treatment used but nasty side effects
Replaced by tricyclic anti depressants which affect serotonin and noradrenaline
Now use SSRI and Prozac which affect serotonin
