A
High lift (C130, C17)
General Purpose (B757)
High speed (F111 F16 etc)
Symmetrical (NH 90 Augusta 109)

Describe High lift aerofoil
A
High thickness cord ratio
- Pronounced camber and well rounded leading edge
- Maximum thickness is 25% - 30% of the chord back from the leading edge

Describe general purpose aerofoil
A
Lower thickness chord ratio, less camber and a sharper leading edge than high lift aerofoils.

Describe High speed aerofoil
A
Very low Thickness Chord ratio
Usually symmetrical in shape with sharp leading edge.
Maximum thickness is 50% back from the leading edge.

Describe symmetrical aerofoil
A
Each half of the aerofoil is exactly the same.
Requires a positive angle of attack to obtain lift.
