What is continuous training?
Training at a moderate pace at a moderate intensity with no break to develop aerobic endurance.
What is a sporting example of continuous training?
- swimming
- long distance running

Name two advantages of continuous training

- training for long periods can be boring
- higher risk of injury if training on hard terrain

What is fartlek training?
Training is when the intensity of training is varied by training at different speeds or terrains.
It is continuous with no rest, the low intensity acts as the recovery period
What is a sporting example of fartlek training?
- swimming
- running
- cycling
- useful for different sports that change pace ie. football, rugby
- good for different terrains ie. road cyclist

- can be made sport specific
- easy to organise
- performer can control the intensity

- may be boring
- needs to ensure the performer is training at a hard enough intensity
- performer needs good self-discipline to maintain intensity with no rest
What is interval training?
When an individual performs a work period followed by a rest/recovery period. Can be anything from 30 seconds to 5 minutes.

What is circuit training?
This involves a series of different activities which can be sport specific or specific areas of fitness.
Athletes complete different activities at different stations for a set period of time before moving to a new station
What is a sporting example of circuit training?
It can be adapted to fit any sport
Name two advantages of circuit training
- can be carried out with little equipment
- helps keep athlete motivated with different exercises
