What does “medical advertisement” mean?
Advertisement relating to medicine/medical device/related product/method of treatment

Advertisements cannot…
From being on/attached to product/container:
- Contain any statement that contradicts information required
- Omit words relating to product name/description
- Contain prohibited information
In advertisements:
- Omit statements required to be in
- Include prohibited statements
- Contain false/misleading information
- State/imply that products advertised cannot harm/are not habit-forming
- State/imply that product/method of treatment will prevent/alleviate/reduce/cure any disease or physiological condition
- State/imply that product/method of treatment is universal, has been recommended by a registered health professional, has had a beneficial effect in particular groups
- Include testimonials
- Invite people to send correspondence/photos/specimens for diagnosis/treatment
MA59 - Advertisements to contain true name of advertiser
Name & address of publisher must be included in advertisement, including company headquarters

Advertisements intended for health
professionals are exempt from certain requirements
