What is an adverb?
An adverb is a word that add more information/modifies a verb or action in a sentence.
What is an adverbial?
An adverbial is a word or phrase modifying a verb or clause to explain how, where or when something happened and they are typically made up of more than one word.
What is a fronted adverbial?
A fronted adverbial is singular words infront of a phrase to give give more information on the action of the main clause and they must be followed by a comma.
e.g. Occasionally, she would share her sweets.
What is an adverbial phrase?
An adverbial phrase is a group of words that functions as an adverb. an adverbial phrase does not contain a subject and a verb. They appear as part of a sentence that would not make sense without it and tell us how, when, where, how long and why something happened.
e.g- WITH A SMILING FACE, he accepted an award- tells us how
Milo liked to sleep ON HIS MASTERS BED. -tells us where
What is the difference between adverbials and adverbs?
An adverbial performs functions in sentences ad are usually a few words together given additional information to the whole sentence.
Whereas an adverb focuses on modifying just verbs and actions of a sentence and are usually just one one ending in ly.
