- blunt trauma to the pelvis
- Or for all unconscious multi-trauma patients

What are some precautions of a pelvic splint
A
- Apply pelvic splint before CT6
- Ensure correct positioning over hreater trochanters
- Application of pelvic splint may cause significant pain

Pathophysiology of a pelvic #
A
- High energy mechanism causes disruption to the pelvic ring
- This increases the pelvic volume
- This can damage internal vasculature such as the illiac artery and its branches
- This can lead to life threatening haemorrhage unless the pelvis ring can be stabilised
