What are signs of a Pneumothorax?
A
- Unequal breath sounds
- Subcutaneous Emphysema
- SpO2 <92% on room air

What are the three mechanisms that can cause a Pneumothorax?
A
- Iatrogenic
- Trauma
- Spontaneous

How do you manage a Pneumothorax?
A
- Monitor Closely for deterioration
- Do not occlude open pneumothorax
- Apply standard dressing if significant haemorrhage

What are signs of a Tension Pneumothorax?
A
- Suspected Pneumothorax
- Inadequate perfusion
- Increasing respiratory distress
- SpO2 <92% despite Oxygen
- Increased peak inspiratory pressure/stiff bag
- Decrease ETCO2

A
- Responsive to pain/unresponsive AND
- SBP <70
Rx - Needle Thoracostomy
