Adult cardiac arrest algorithm Flashcards
first step is to
start cpr
give o2
attach monitor
Step 2
determine if its a shock-able rhythm
If step to do, if yes, then////
Shock , ( v fib or pulsless v tach)
after shock of v fib or pulsless v tach you…..
continue cpr and gain iv / io acess
after continuing cpr if the next rhythm check is shockable you
shock again
restart cpr
consider advanced airway
Next you look for shockable rhythem again and if it is you
shock
give amiodorone
treat reversible causes
next continue 2 min round with epi and amio until
rosc
pea or aystole
going back to step two or if at anytime you loose a shock-able rhythm you
do cpr in 2 min rounds giving epi every 3 to 5 minutes
epi dose is
.5 every 3-5 min with a max of 2 mg
pulsless tor-sades gets treated with what medication
magsulfate
mag-sulfate dose for pulsless tor-sades is
1-2 g iv io diluted in 10 ml of crystalloids
for v fibb and pulsless v tach you do what after the 3rd shock
put a new set of pads in the anterior posterior positions for subsequent shocks
this is because a simple change in vector is sometimes all thats needed to convert a rhythm
What are the H’s and T’s?
Hypovolemia, Hypoxia, Hyper/Hypokalemia (acidosis), Tension pneumothorax, Hypothermia, Toxicity (Drug Overdose), Cardiac Tamponade, Thrombosis, Trauma
