You should advise them that teens who have chosen to come out to their parents are likely fairly certain about their homosexual orientation. What is important is that the teen knows that their parent still loves them while they are dealing with the information.

As a pediatrician, what should you do if you are uncomfortable asking about sexual orientation and practice?
If you are truly uncomfortable, you should refer the adolescent to another physician
