9-18 YRS
What is adolescence
An important change following puberty during which a yoing person develops from a child into an adult.
What is puberty?
A period of rapid growth during which young people reach sexual maturity and become biologically able to reproduce and sexual characteristic develops.
What is hormones
Chemical substances producedin the body and transported into the blood stream taht control body cells or body organ .
What will both females and males experience during adolescence and what happens to them
Puberty. This is a rapid change where young person develops from a child to an adult.
What age do girls hit puberty and what age doe boys hit puberty?
Girls - 11-13 YRS. Boys - 13-15 YRS.
What are the primary sexual characteristics for females and males?
Females - The uterus enlargens and the vagina lengthens. The ovaries begin to release eggs and lastly the menstrual cycle begins.
Males - Enlargement of penis and testes. Spontaneous erections caused by blood flowing into chmabers in the penis may happen and finally the testiclesbegin to produce sperm.
What are the secondary sexual characteristics for females and males?
Females - breasts develop area of the nipple swells and darkens. Hair grows in armpitsand pubic area and finally restribution of body fat causing hips to widen.
Males - Changes in larynx (Adams apple) causing voice to deepen. Hair grows in armpits, pubic area and facial hair and finaly restirbution of musles tissue and fat.
