Therapeutic interventions that are used in addition to periodontal therapy

A
No as removing supra gingival and subgingival plaque is most effective.

What are the two divides of adjunctive treatments
A
Systemic adjucts - oral medications
Locally delivered adjuncts - delivered directly via the periodontal pockets

3 indications for adjuncts
A
- acute periodontal diseases (necrotising periodontal disease, abscesses)
- Virulent periodontal pathogens
- Susceptible hosts (susceptible to inflammation)

What virulent pathogen is deep inside periodontal tissues and hidden doing conventional therapy (scaling) so will not be removed when performing treatment
