(FCOM-DSC-34-10-30)

A

Before any engine is started (displayed on E/WD):

a. IR IN ALIGN X MN memo appears in green when at least one active IRS is being aligned

When one engine is started (displayed on E/WD):

a. IR IN ALIGN X MN memo appears in amber during IRS alignment

b. IR NOT ALIGNED is displayed as an ECAM Caution Message if the alignment of one IRS is faulty

c. IR IN ATT ALIGN appears in green during the IR alignment in Attitude Mode

16
Q

When is a full alignment of the ADIRU required?

(FCOM-PRO-NOR-SOP-06)

A

Full alignment of the IRS is required:

a. Before the first flight of the day, or

b. When there is a crew change (EXCEPTION only when Flaps 1 and temp above 35°C), or

c. When the GPS is not available and the NAVAIDS coverage is poor on the expected route, or

d. When the GPS is not available and the expected flight time is more than 3 hours

e. When any portion of the flight is conducted in Class II Navigation

17
Q

Describe the process for a full alignment of the ADIRS when the temperature is above 35° C.

(FCOM-PRO-NOR-SOP-06)

A

To perform a complete alignment with Flaps 1 and temp above 35° C:

a. Confirm the aircraft area is clear with ground personnel prior to pressurizing the hydraulic system

b. Once the area is clear, turn the Y ELEC Pump ON

c. Raise the flaps to 0

d. Turn the Y ELEC Pump OFF

e. Perform the complete ADIRS alignment

f. Confirm the aircraft area is clear with ground personnel prior to pressurizing the hydraulic system

g. Once the area is clear, turn the Y ELEC Pump ON

h. Return the flaps to 1 if still in hot weather conditions

i. Turn the Y ELEC Pump OFF

18
Q

What would be missing on the Captain’s PFD and ND if IR 1 failed or was turned OFF?

(FCOM-DSC-34-10-10)

A

Attitude and navigation information would be lost. ATT and HDG flags will be displayed on the PFD and MAP NOT AVAIL will be on the ND

19
Q

What action would recover the attitude and navigation information if IR1 failed or was turned off?

(FCOM-DSC-34-10-20)

A

Selecting CAPT 3 on the EIS switching panel ATT/HDG selector

20
Q

What would restore the lost altitude and airspeed information if IR1 failed or was turned off?

(FCOM-DSC-34-10-20)

A

Selecting CAPT 3 on the EIS Switching Panel AIR DATA Selector
