What is the cause of Addison’s Disease?
A low production of hormones by the adrenal gland (glucocorticoids & mineralocorticoids).
Example sentence: Glucocorticoids help regulate metabolism and the immune system.
What are some of the major symptoms of Addison’s Disease?
Lethargy, weakness, and weight loss.
Example sentence: Patients may also experience abdominal pain and nausea.
What color is the skin of a client with Addison’s disease?
Bronzed color (hyperpigmentation) assess the palms, in the creases of skin and over pressure points.
Example sentence: Hyperpigmentation is a classic sign of Addison’s disease.
Will a client with Addison’s Disease be overweight?
No as weight loss is common.
Will the serum blood glucose levels be high or low?
Low along with the sodium levels. Salt should be increased.
Example sentence: Hyponatremia is a common finding in Addison’s disease.

High.
What is the treatment for Addison’s Disease?
Lifelong glucocorticoids therapy.
