The Four C’s that Help Explain Addiction:
Compulsion: An intense urge or need to use the substance.
Loss of Control: Inability to control or stop substance use despite negative consequences.
Craving: A strong desire or hunger for the substance.
Continued Use Despite Consequences: Continued substance use despite awareness of its detrimental effects on health, relationships, or other aspects of life.
What Drives an Addiction:
Genetic, environmental, pshycological, and social factors.
Symptoms of Addiction:
Increased tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, neglecting other responsibilites, and continued usage.
Three Harmful Consequences of an Addiction:
Physical Health Consequences: Chronic health issues, organ damage, and increased risk of diseases.
Psychological Consequences: Mental health disorders, cognitive impairment, and emotional disturbances.
Social Consequences: Strained relationships, isolation, and difficulties in work or academic settings.
What Can Someone Do to Help Treat Their Addiction:
Therapy/counselling, medication, and support groups
