Adaption Flashcards
1
Q
How is a polar bear adapted to its environment?
A
They have thick layers of fat and fur to keep warm,
dark skin to absorb heat,
a small surface area to volume ratio to minimise heat loss,
a greasy coat that sheds water after swimming to stop them getting cold,
large feet to distribute their load and increase grip on the ice,
strong swimmers so can easily catch fish,
white fur so that they can blend in to their surroundings.
