Diagnosis
A
WCC—leucocytosis
S. amylase or lipase (usu. × 5 increase)
Plain X-ray, may be senital loop
CT scan
US (to evaluate biliary system)

Management
A
Arrange admission to hospital.
May require ERCP.
Basic treatment is;
- bed rest
- nil orally
- nasogastric suction (if vomiting)
- IV fluid
- analgesics (morphine or fentanyl as above)
- antiemetics IM or IV prn
