What are the therapeutic tips for pain management?

A
  • from newborn -> children can experience pain
  • chose medicationa nd route of admin according to severity and desired onset and duration of action
  • use oral analgesics when possible to avoid painful routes of admin
  • consider hepatic and renal function when selecting an analgesic

*ex: dont give ibuprofen when dehydrated

  • wait 1-2 h after giving analgesic to see if it is working
