What are the goals when dealing with ACS
Identify if STEMI is present
Relieve chest discomfort
Prevent major adverse cardiac events (MACE)
Treat acute, life-threatening complications
What is the treatment plan in ACS
ABCs
O2 (maintain pulse ox of 94-99%)
12 Lead EKG (before O2 if VS is stable, no resp distress, & pulse ox >94%)
Meds = ASA, Nitro, Morphine
What does a stable angina pt look like
Pink, warm, and dry
What does an unstable angina pt look like
Altered mental status, SOB, CP, cool, clammy, and diaphoretic
What is the time goal for PCI
Within 90 minutes
What is the time goal for thrombolytics
Withing 30 minutes (chew ASA)
If a pt is stable what should you always do first
Get a 12 lead EKG, even before oxygen
