50
Q

when are distal point selected

A

Along the disease meridian

  • Same name meridian pairs – e.g. paired Hand/ foot yangming channels (ST, LI)
  • Yin yang paired meridians – e.g. paired earth channels. (SP/ST)
51
Q

when are symptomatic points selected

A

such as fever, sweating, coma, insomnia, etc.

52
Q

when are points selected due to syndrome diff

A
  • Another way to treat the entire body condition and the root cause
  • Zang-Fu or 6 confirmation dx
53
Q

Q

diseased meridian

A

Match points along with meridians and collaterals

56
Q

distal-local points

A

Not limited to diseased meridian.

  • Choose 1 local and 2 distal OR 2 local and 4 distal.
57
Q

anterior-posterior points

A

Disease of internal organs/trunk

A

Jing-Well points for fullness of upper abdomen
Ying-Spring points for body heat (fever)
Shu-Stream points for heavy body and articulatory pain Jing-River points for asthma, cough, alternating chills/fever
He-Sea points for counterflow of qi and diarrhea

62
Q

mother-son tonifying/reduce method

A
  • Reduce the son for excessive syndromes. Tonify the mother for deficient syndromes
  • Choose point on the affected meridian
  • Pick points from external-internal (biao li) related meridians
  • Select points from meridians according to mother-son relation of organs
  • Select points from son meridian or mother meridian
63
Q

Back-Shu and Front-Mu Points

combining method

A
  • Select front-mu points for six fu organ disease
  • Combination or alternation for back-shu points and front-mu points for zangfu organ disease
  • Select back-shu points for 5 sense organs and tissues
64
Q

Yuan-Source and Luo-Collateral

A

Yuan-Source Points:

  • Tx or dx internal Zangfu organ dz
  • Tx local symptoms where the corresponding meridians distributed

Luo-Connecting Points:

  • Tx the syndromes of exteriorly-interiorly related meridians and internal Zangfu organs
  • Tx Luo Mai (Collateral) disease – in this case, you have to just use luo- connecting points.
65
Q

Combination of 8 Confluent Points

A

PC-6 (Yin Wei/Linking) / SP4 (Chong):
- Used in combination to treat problems of the ST, HT, chest, diaphragm

LU-7 (CV) / KD6 (Yin Qiao/Heel):
- Used in combination to treat Lung, chest, diaphragm and throat,

SI-3 (GV) / UB62 (Yang Heel):
- Treats neck, inner canthus, ear and shoulder.

GB-41 (Dai) / TB5 (Yang linking)
- Treats neck, outer canthus, ear, shoulder, cheek.
