Types of Leisure and Definitions: Passive, Active, survival and structured.
Passive: Used for rest, recreation or hobbies that require no physical exertion.
Active: Used for sport of recreational activities that require physical exertion.
Survival: Activities we do to keep us alive day to day.
Structured: Formal sporting activities like football, soccer or netball.
Types of Leisure and Definitions: Recommended, Incidental and Work.
Recommended: 30 mins of activity time 3-4 times a week.
Incidental: Happens by chance - running to the bus or walking the dog as a chore.
Work: A large part of your time is spent doing these activities. They can be school work, chores, jobs that are paid or jobs that are unpaid.
Types of Leisure and Definitions: Leisure, Unstructured, Accumulated and Sleep.
Leisure: Time not spent doing survival or work activities.
Unstructured: Not a formal activity, and can involve jogging, knocking a ball around at lunch, etc.
Accumulated: The total amount of physical activity added together.
Sleep: Important rest where our body grows and repairs itself.
Components of Fitness:
Coordination, Agility, balance, power, relation time, strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and body composition.
Benefits of Physical Activity:
Physical: They have a positive effect on you health and/or body.
Emotional: They have a positive effect on your mind and the way you feel.
Social: They have a positive effect how you relate to and interact with others.
Spiritual: Like religion, they bring us closer to the people and the environment around us.
Physical Activity and Cultural Significance:
Weekends, Rural, Family, Ethnicity, Gender, City, Coastal and Affluence (amount of money).
