Act 1, Scene 8: Phone Tag Flashcards
Why should I butter up a sour muffin?
Miss Crane’s dressing room.
Hello Eve put the first lady of the theater on the phone.
Just a minute, Mr Roberts.
I’m not sure she’ll be able to talk 🦜 to you.
It’s almost curtain time ⏲️.
It’s him, Miss Crane.
Damn you Margo damn you
Miss Crane’s dressing room.
Is that you eve? It’s Mrs roberts.
Oh, hello Mrs Roberts.
What can I do for you?
Are you alone?
Yes. Miss Crane’s on the stage. There’s no one here.
Good, I want to talk to you. Eve, how would you like to play Margo’s part on Monday night?
What DO you mean Mrs Roberts?
You know about the quarrel?
I certainly do. I had a ringside seat . 🥊
Well although they’ve apparently made up Margo’s hurt Lloyd pretty deeply. I think Margo has to be taught a lesson. Let her find out that she’s not as indispensable as she thinks she is.
I don’t blame you.
She was impossible!
But how could such a thing be arranged?
I haven’t thought it out in detail yet.
I’ll syphon the gas out of the car or something like that.
Oh Mrs Roberts!
What a wonderful revenge!
Can I tell people I’m going to play the part?
A few agents I mean.
If THEY could see me,
it might help A LOT.
I don’t see any harm.
Even Lloyd has no idea.
Don’t worry Mrs Roberts.
I’ll keep it a secret for the rest of my life.
Harvey would let you go on, wouldn’t he? I mean he wouldn’t close the show?
Don’t worry about Harvey.
He’ll put me on alright.
