Act 1, Scene 7: Discussion Flashcards
You mean she hasn’t given you a hint?
Not a word, Mr Roberts.🪶
But surely you must have an inkling? Even if you only overheard her talking to Clement.
If they’ve discussed your script 📜, it must have been in the privacy of their bedroom 🛌, or when I haven’t been around.
I haven’t gleaned 🌾 the faintest idea as to whether🌦️🌂 Mr Howell likes it or not 🚫.
It’s very odd.
I should have thought:
a new play
by you
written especially for her
would have been there sole topic of conversation..
I agree. I’ve been sitting up in Connecticut knocking myself out to finish it and now she keeps me waiting for a reaction.
I wish I could read it.
That’s the curtain. The matinee is over. Mr roberts, please don’t think me forward, but I’ve been dying to ask you. Is there anything I could do in the play?
If there were I’d give it to you in a minute. But I was careful not to write a good ingenue part this time.
I’m beginning to think I’ll never get a break.
Something will come along someday. Have patience. They aren’t very enthusiastic this afternoon. They must be sitting on their hands.
The house was only half full. I guess most people are away weekends during the summer.
Mr Roberts, I wonder, could you recommend me to a couple of agents?
I’ve met Mr Hinkle, Miss Crane’s agent, but he said he couldn’t do anything for me because he hadn’t seen me act.
