Act 1 Scene 3 Flashcards
H: get something on!
(raising a lager can) - I’m getting a little glow on
D: You get a sense of power standing here
You don’t need power, you’ve got me!
D: I never see you using much
It’s all in reserve. It’s there if needed. I’m like your nuclear deterrent
D: we’ve had a few fallouts I know that. I’m not complaining, I enjoy it when we make up
Forget it, I’ve got a headache
D: You don’t have a headache
I’ll get one!
D: I love us acting together. I wish we had some big romantic scene
We had one last Tuesday
D: It was the Tuesday before
You’ve started counting?
D: It’s on my calendar
You make me feel like I’m just a plaything
D: I wish you’d stop missing so many games. Am I less desirable than I used to be
No Daze, I can honestly say that. You were never that desirable
D: Don’t lie. You used to think I was mega-delicious
You know this for a fact?
D: You told me
That was a ploy young men use when they’re looking to go that extra mile
D: Darren Brocklehurst thought I was lovely
He was from Chesterfield!
R: How is Bruce?
Wearing a dress but he seems happy
R: How’s our Violet
Less happy. He looks better in it than she does
R: Where’s Milly
He’s at the tea bar
Daisy studies Onslow
What?
D: We used to have so much in common
The hormones were younger. Life was sweet. We didn’t have a bladder problem
D: I don’t have a bladder problem. I didn’t know you had one.
I haven’t yet. But I look at him next door and then there’s Uncle Reg and I just know it’s my turn any minute
D: Your Uncle Reg’s got more problems than that
True. There’s Aunty Gerty for a start.
D: She’s viscious. There’s no wonder he loves his labrador
I’ll grant you, she’s not as nice as a labrador, but I wouldn’t call her viscious.
D: She hits him
That’s just his way of being touchy feely
R: And in return, he’s going to make me computer literate
You failed Lego!
R: he’s been deprived too long of simple human warmth
He must feel like he’s been plonked in the microwave!
D: We’ll give it a shot. He’ll wear a shirt.
Have I got a shirt?
D: I told you, it’s waiting for ironing
That was last bank holiday.
H: Richard, can you hear it? You see, Richard could hear it
Richard’s no fool/
H: Why on earth would I be lying on the floor
Our Rose can think of several reasons.
H: Only as far as we’ve rehearsed. This is quite a shock. You’ll have to give me a moment
Your Hyacinth murdered. Why didn’t I think of that?
L: I think we have to look at the motivation
I could murder a bacon butty
D: And you Onslow, Detective Seargent
Makes a change
