Act 1 Scene 2 Flashcards
H: Onslow, Daisy, what are you doing here? Onslow, put a jacket on
You must be joking. You could speed grow rhubarb in here
H: Anywhere out of sight of people like Mrs Avery….iced lolly circles…quite unused to Onslow quantities of visible flesh
She’s seen more than a bare arm before
E: on the night, I promise you, Onslow will have a shirt and tie
There’s always a snag
E: They’re my reliables. I don’t know where we’d be without them. Gather around people, the scripts are here
I like this stage of things. About to change your own identity - about to start being somebody new
D: I like the old you
And I can understand why. It has a lot going for it
D: I can be a duchess. I’m not just Onslow’s moll you know. Although I must admit that’s my favourite part
I know she’s always ready for rehearsals
H: It takes a leap of imagination, Daisy, to see you as a Duchess
I don’t know. She’s always had a natural distaste for housework and washing mucky pots
D: Why don’t you wash a few
Ours is a partnership, Daze. I do the glamour, you do basic chores.
H: Rose, we’re supposed to be rehearsing!
It’s been a while since she needed any rehearsing
H: So who’s looking after Daddy? There’s no wonder he’s running loose
He was alright when we left. He was going through some old postcards
M: Really? Which service? I’m rather interested in things military. R: Me too
He was in the army
H: Reading between the lines we think he was something rather secret and special. Of course he never talks about it
He never stops!
