What is acne
A
Acne vulgaris is a skin disease affecting the pilosebaceous unit. It is clinically characterised by comedones, papules, pustules, nodules, cysts, and/or scarring, primarily on the face and trunk.

What are risk factors for acne?
A
• Age 12-24
• Genetics
• Greasy skin type
Drugs: androgens, corticosteroids (topical, oral, or injected), antiepileptic medications, isoniazid, lithium, and adrenocorticotropic hormone

What is Rx for acne?
A
Mild: topical retinoid or steroid
Moderate: + topical antibiotic, oral antibiotic, COCP
Severe: isotretinoin

What are complications of acne?
A
Scarring, pigmentation, depression
