What does an ABG measure?
A
**Alveolar Ventilation—how much “air” is the patient moving in (oxygen) and out (CO2) of the lungs
**Oxygenation—how much oxygen is being passed into bloodstream
**Acid Base Balance–enough C02 is exhaled and enough HC03 is produced to keep pH neutral
