Q: Priority Traffic
A term used to communicate non-emergency, priority information to all personnel on the emergency scene. e.g. – change in operations, identified fire ground hazard, control of utilities.
Q: Mayday/Emergency Traffic
A term to be used to communicate when a firefighter is lost, trapped or to broadcast announcements of an emergency nature to all personnel on the emergency scene.
Q: Company members must be in contact with each other in the hazard zone through one of the following:
voice (not radio), visual, or touch
Q: Who should be responsible for the PASS Port accountability report?

a) Who is operating at the incident and who do they report to.

e) Whether additional personnel are needed to complete an assignment.
Q: When will a PAR be performed?
a) Any report of a missing, trapped, lost or downed firefighter.
b) Any sudden hazardous event at the incident – flash over, backdraft, collapse, etc.,
c) At a report of fire under control.
Q: PAR for Emergency Situations (missing/lost FF, rapid fire events, etc)
The IC shall declare “Emergency Traffic” over the radio and state that a PAR is commencing on all radio channels assigned to the incident.
Q: PAR for a non-emergency situation (fire under control)
The IC shall declare “Priority Traffic” over the radio and state that a PAR is commencing on all radio channels assigned to the incident.
Q: What are the steps for a May Day?
- Identify the FF, location, air and what happened
a) Can they self-rescue
2) Move everyone on to a different channel
3) Launch RIC
4) Add an additional alarm (Mutual Aid Structure Response)
5) Add an additional ambulance for every FF plus one more
6) Establish a second and if possible, a 3rd RIC team
Q: When a firefighter is missing or declares a mayday what is the pneumonic to use?
last known location unit ID name air supply resources needed to initiate a rescue (if known).
Q: If you do not know where the missing FF is where do you send the RIC team?
To the last known working location of the FF
Q: Once the FF has been rescued what should the IC do?
Declare an “all clear, resume radio traffic”
Q: When should you implement the “T” card system?
When there are 3 or more alarms
